The power of grassroots development lies in its ability to address immediate needs while fostering long-term, sustainable change. In the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, OASIS has implemented several projects that address the housing and livelihood needs of the local population, transforming the lives of those most affected by hardship.

These projects have been instrumental in providing much-needed shelter to families who were living in dilapidated huts or had no permanent home at all. The construction of 14 new homes and the completion of 13 others has provided families with the stability to rebuild their lives. Each home was built with careful attention to the needs of the families, ensuring that the structures provided not only shelter but also a sense of dignity.

On the livelihood front, OASIS has empowered families to create sustainable sources of income. Many of the beneficiaries, particularly women, have transitioned from low-paying, labor-intensive jobs to owning their own businesses, such as poultry farming. This shift has significantly improved their incomes, providing them with the financial freedom to support their families and invest in their futures.

Through these grassroots efforts, OASIS has created a ripple effect of hope, empowering individuals and communities to take charge of their own futures, overcoming the hardships they have faced.
